TSA implements new travel restrictions

The United Statres Transportation Security Administration took on new screeening responsibility last week in the wake of the revelation of a plot to use liquid-based explosives in aviation departing from the United Kingdom. New restrictions regarding digital devices, liquids and gels have gone into effect for travelers. Travellers to and from the United Kingdom this past week found that portable electronics, particularly laptops, iPods and cell phones, were not allowed in carry-on baggage. While the restrictions have eased somewhat on iPods and laptops, cell phones are still not allowed because of concerns around their use as remote detonation devices.
